Makati City, Philippines — Filipino content creators are set to gain stronger support in protecting their original works, improving content quality, accessing new markets, and turning creativity into a sustainable livelihood through a new partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines, Inc. (SIKAP).

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on 04 May 2026. This collaboration moves the DTI, through the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council Secretariat (PCIDCS) under the Competitiveness and Innovation Group (CIG), and SIKAP to work together to strengthen the country’s content creation sector by promoting intellectual property awareness, supporting the production of original Filipino content, and expanding opportunities for both emerging and established creators.

The partnership also seeks to professionalize the creative content creation sector, elevate content quality standards, and improve the global competitiveness of Philippine creative outputs. These efforts support the objectives of Republic Act No. 11904, or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act, and DTI’s flagship Malikhaing Pinoy Program.

CIG Supervising Head, Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza D. Bautista emphasized the importance of building strong ties with key industry advocates. “Through this partnership with SIKAP, we affirm our commitment to a collaboration that is practical, responsive, and proactive. We recognize the importance of programs that strengthen creative entrepreneurship, connect creators to markets and networks, encourage innovation, and provide pathways for sustainable growth,” said ASec. Bautista.

For SIKAP, the partnership marks an important step toward greater recognition and institutional support for Filipino creators and their original works.

“This agreement provides a formal foundation for our shared goals,” stated SIKAP President Rausch. “For our organization, this partnership serves as a vital acknowledgement that original Filipino content and intellectual property deserve a prominent seat at the table of the national creative agenda,” Rausch added.

The signing ceremony was attended by DTI-CIG Supervising Nylah Rizza D. Bautista, PCIDC Secretariat Deputy Executive Director Paolo Federico A. Ramos, SIKAP President Marla de Castro Rausch, Vice President Micah Fernandez, and Executive Director Rene Misa.

This collaboration forms part of the broader initiatives under the Malikhaing Pinoy Program aimed at strengthening the Philippine creative industries ecosystem.
